SIZE: The printed area of the view, including titles, is approximately 26.5 x 22 cm, 10.5 x 8.5 inches (medium) plus margins.  Many copies were centre folded and mounted, this example has no folds and was originally mounted in full sheet format.

ARTIST/CARTOGRAPHER/ENGRAVER: Published by John Cary.  John Cary was a very important English cartographer who published "The New and Correct English Atlas". It was revolutionary in its time. Cary abandoned the elaborate decoration and mythical beasts which adorned earlier maps in favour of a more detailed, accurate and scientific approach. Cary set a standard thereafter which other Cartographers were to follow, most notably, the Ordnance Survey; indeed, the atlas proved so popular, that for this 1809 edition, an entirely new set of maps had to be engraved as the original plates had become so worn!

PROVENANCE:  This print was published in "The New and Correct English Atlas", 1809.

TYPE: Antique copper engraving printed on paper.

VERSO: There is nothing printed on the reverse side which is blank.

CONDITION: Very good; suitable for framing. Please check the scan for any blemishes prior to making your purchase.
