Up for sale is an antique engraved map of "PORT GENEVE'S", by hydrographer Joseph Roux.  Plate 74.

Joseph Roux was born in 1725 in Marseille, France.  He learned the art of hydrography from his father.  During the mid-18th century, he earned the title of "Hydrographe du Roi" meaning Hydrographer to the King.  He died in 1793.

Circa: 1780 - OVER 230 YEARS OLD!! - Map is in French.  It is blank on the reverse side.

This map came from and unidentified publication.  There are no folds in the map.  It measures approximately 8 3/4" x 6 3/4".  It is not matted or framed.  

There is some writing in pencil in the bottom border.  It is also toned, browned and has some foxing.  There are nicks and chips around the edges of the border and there are holes down the left hand side from where it was originally bound.

Other stains and dings here and there.  This antique maps is a fabulous piece of history!
