PROVENANCE: Published in "The History, Topography and Antiquities of the Isle of Wight", by W.H. Davenport Adams. Published in 1856 by J. Briddon, Ryde.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:   St Lawrence is a village on the south side of the Isle of Wight, in southern England. It is located to the west of Ventnor and many consider it a part of that town. St Lawrence is situated on the Undercliff, and is subject to frequent landslips. St Lawrence's Well is set into a bank at the junction of the 2 drives to "The Cottage St Lawrence Well". Early C19 gothicised ashlar front to well head with finialed gable and drip mould over pointed arched opening.
