Product Description : 1974 Czechoslovakia May day Mayday 1st First May Ostrava Anniversary Pin Badge

• This is a rare metal badge from the 1974 May Day celebrations in Ostrava in former Czechoslovakia. It is made from gold coloured metal. Featuring the Red hammer and sickle of the Soviet Union and the text 30th anniversary of National Liberation.

  The badge has a long stick pin style fastener and is 2.2cm high.

  May day parades are still held to this day in The Czech Republic, they have always been based around the welcoming of springtime after the long, cold winter. Typically youth groups and fraternal organisations would parade down the streets along a specified route. Trade unions and the military would also march the route bearing banners and flags and to this day it is quite a spectacle.
