Pair of cast square-based brass English candlesticks of classical style dating from the George III era, circa 1780. They make a nice pesentation at their height of 10½ inches. The also retain their original bobeches whose gardrooned decoration happily echoes the gardrooning on the bases. These were cast in two parts; the photo below of the top without the bobeche shows the seam lines at the corners. There is some wear to the decoration from years of polishing and a very minor repair to the corner of one bobeche which we have shown in photos of the top and underside. The bases show the original peening and no damage.

For reference, see the similar model listed as illustration D on page 184 of The Brass Book by Peter, Nancy and Herbert Schiffer., though that one has a concave base rather than the gadrooned one we see here.
