 The autochrome plate was the first three-color photography process on the market and belongs to the group of additive color processes.


 The medium consists of a mosaic of colors on a glass plate, designed to be viewed using hand-held devices or projected using carbon arc lamps.


The plates were patented in 1904 by the Lumière brothers, produced and marketed starting in 1907 by the Lumière company.

Nous y sommes du mardi au samedi, de 11h jusqu’à 19h.

Collections of photographs and photographic processes from the 19th century, rare cameras, early cinematographic apparatus, scientific, technical, acoustic, optical, electrical or astronomical instruments and optical toys. We offer advice, information and a valuation of individual objects or entire collections. You are invited to visit us at 16 rue de Vaugirard in the 6th arrondissement, Paris, between the Jardin du Luxembourg and Saint Germain des Prés. We are open from 2pm to 7pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
