The artists Biography below was taken from an article from Collectors Mart, 'Remembering the Legends" Ozz Franca A Mystical Visionary by Angela Howell June 1993.

Ozz Franca was born in 1928 in Sao Paulo Brazil and showed his early talents in both art and swimming. He won First prize in the annual Spring Salon Art Competition at 14 years of age and he made the Brazilian Olympic Swimming Team at age 15. He held his first One Man show at 18 and this started him on his art career. The start of World War 11 ended his hopes of swimming in the Olympics as the outbreak of the War cancelled Francas' dreams of competing that year. He moved to the United States and received a scholarship in art in Utah and one year later he moved to Hollywood and worked for Walt Disney doing movie illustrations. His projects included Lady and The tramp and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The artist moonlighted as a swimmer when movie parts were not available. Franca painted many subjects, but is best known for his esoteric images of Native American women. He said that he always painted his subjects which primarily were women, either in profile, looking towards the edge of the painting or looking over her shoulder. Franca entered the world of fantasy and dreams where the spiritual meets the sensual. His works with their floating imagry and airy muted colors evoke an aura of mystery. After creating a spectacular body of art Ozz Franca died in 1991.
