This heirloom variety from 1889 is a striking plant with it's deep scarlet flowers
contrasted against the dark, blue green leaves, & it is perfect as a stand up flower, trailing
in baskets & edging.
Upright height of 9 to 14 inches & trailing can go as long as 6 feet and is sure to brighten
up any area of your garden.
Every salad should have these edible flowers in them to brighten them up bright red blooms.
In WW11 these delightful flowers were often substituted for pepper in recipes.
Soak the seeds overnight and they do best when planted direct or in degradable pots.
Can be started indoors but needs care in transplanting.
Germination 10 to 14 days
Sow 1/2 inch deep in a area that gets at least 6 hours of direct sun each day.
Plant out after risk of frost has passed.
