The books covers are original green cloth boards with gold gilt title writing to the spines. Both the covers have some surface shelf ware and with some rubbing and bumping to the corners. Some rubbing to the spine edges. Otherwise the covers are good for their age. The hinges, inner boards and endpapers are in good order. Label to the front inner boards and a small stamp to back board and small number to title pages. . Both are only illustrated with a frontispiece which are present but do harbour some fox marks. Volume 1 has 416 pages. Other than the odd small fox spot the pages are in good condition. Stamp to bottom of last page. There is also 1 map to the rear in a pocket at the back. The map is in good condition and free from tears. There could be a possiblity that there was originally 2 maps therefore one is missing. Volume 2 has 351 pages. Again the pages are in similiar conditon as the first volume nand small stamp to last page. The bindings are tight and square.
