DATE PRINTED: 1841, dated on the print.

SIZE:  The printed area including titles is approximately 18.5 x 14.5 cm, 7.25 x 5.75 inches (medium) plus margins.

ARTIST/CARTOGRAPHER/ENGRAVER:   Drawn by William Henry Bartlett (1809-1854) and engraved by William Mossman (active 1838-1864). William Henry Bartlett (March 26, 1809 – September 13, 1854) was a British artist, best known for his numerous steel engravings. Bartlett was born in Kentish Town, London in 1809. He was apprenticed to John Britton (1771–1857), and became one of the foremost illustrators of topography of his generation. He travelled throughout Britain, and in the mid and late 1840s he travelled extensively in the Balkans and the Middle East. He made four visits to North America between 1836 and 1852.

PROVENANCE:  Produced for the much admired “Ports, Harbours, Watering Places and Coast Scenery of Great Britain” (London, George Virtue: 1836-1842). 

TYPE: Antique steel engraving printed on paper.

VERSO: There is nothing printed on the reverse side, which is blank.
