Notthingham catchfly

Latin name: Silene nutans

In nature, Notthingham catchfly grows in almost all parts of Europe.
It can be found in the Alps up to altitudes of 2 000 m (6 500 ft).
As an upright, perennial plant, it reaches heights of 30-60 cm (12-24 in).
It thrives on sandy meadows, semi-arid grasslands, rock corridors, in sparse forests and bush edges.
This plant is somewhat lime-avoiding.
Its white flowers bloom from May to the end of July.
These flowers are mainly visited by moths, hence they only open in the evening and give off their intense hyacinth scent.
