Cowpea - Black-eyed-peas

Latin name: Vigna unguiculata

It is historically documented, that cowpea is used since the ancient Greeks and Romans.
It produces small white beans with black spot(eye) around the navel. Its seeds have creamy-melting consistency.
Its green young pods and seeds are also for consumption.
Pods have excellent taste, they are not thready when young.
