Early 1880's S. Günthermann Tin Lithograph Wind-Up Trolley!

German craftsman Siegfried Günthermann founded the company S. Günthermann Mechanische Blechspielwarenfabrik circa 1877 working as a one-man operation producing tin toys by hand in a small workshop. In 1878 the business expanded and moved into larger premises. The majority of their toys were exported to the USA, Their wind-up toys were initially fitted with a coil spring mechanism, which was replaced by a clockwork mechanism circa 1883. The original company logo was a circle with the initials S.G. against a "coat of arms."

This fantastic approximate 6¾" x 2½" x 4" wind-up trolley has the early coil spring mechanism along with the original company logo.

It is missing the overhead electric "arm"It is also missing the little clapper arm That extended from the front axle to ring the bell as it moves. Super size the listing images to view the condition in greater detail!
