Up for sale is a great, original, colored, ANTIQUE Plate from "REPORTS OF EXPLORATIONS AND SURVEYS TO ASCERTAIN THE PRACTICABILITY OF A SHIP-CANAL, BETWEEN THE ATLANTIC AND PACIFIC OCEANS, BY THE WAY OF THE ISTHMUS OF TEHUANTEPEC (MEXICO) - NAVY DEPARTMENT".  1872

It is a colored plate titled, "RANCHOS AT TARIFA". T. Sinclair & Son Lith. Philadelphia, PA.

It is blank on the reverse side. There are tears across the top border from where it was originally bound.

It is approximately 11 1/2" x 9", including the border area.  The plate itself is approximately 9 1/2" x 6 1/2"

This plate is from "REPORTS OF EXPLORATIONS AND SURVEYS TO ASCERTAIN THE PRACTICABILITY OF A SHIP-CANAL, BETWEEN THE ATLANTIC AND PACIFIC OCEANS, BY THE WAY OF THE ISTHMUS OF TEHUANTEPEC - NAVY DEPARTMENT" by Robert W. Shufeldt, Captain United States Navy. Made under the Direction of the Secretary of the Navy. 1872 Government Printing Office, Washington, DC.  Forty-Second Congress, Second Session.

It is generally in Good Condition. There is some age related browning and toning and some spotting and stains. Other dings here and there, as well.

This would be a great addition to any collection and will look very nice when framed!

Please note that while I have included a picture of the Title Page of the book that this plate was taken from, it is NOT included in the sale, as it is a reference piece to determine authenticity for other plates, maps/engravings.

Please see my store for other great items.
