• A gold metal, medal style badge 4.4cm high from the top to the bottom and with a safety clasp style fastener to the rear of the ribbon section.

  The reverse side has the inscription: auf sozialistische art zu leben erfordert auf sozialistische art zu arbeiten meaning to live in socialism you have to work in socialism. (it doesn't really translate well, but you get the idea).
  The front side features the hammer and compass logo on the main badge face.
