Rudy Vallée was one of the most popular American entertainers of the 1920s and '30s. After attending Yale University, where he began performing with the college band the Yale Collegians, he became a professional musician. Known for his trademark megaphone and suave voice he quickly rose to fame, soon moving on to other aspects of show business including becoming a nightclub owner, master of ceremonies in theaters, and a Hollywood actor. After his first film success with his role as a singer in Vagabond Lover (1929), he hosted the variety hour The Rudy Vallee Show from 1929 to 1943.
