History of Sologne porcelain

The history of porcelain dates back to the 10th century in China, with the Tang Dynasty. It was only in 1694, under Louis XIV, that we discovered the recipe for soft paste to make porcelain. It is the birth of the first factories. In Berry, the Pillivuyt family will mark the history of porcelain. This family of Flemish origin will settle in Foëcy to develop the manufacture and trade of porcelain there. In 1855, their factory took the name of Albert Pillivuyt and company (Apilco). It is in Chauvigny, in 1826, that Jean Boyer will install his pottery with a preference for tableware. He will marry his daughter to Louis Deshoulières. This family and its descendants will build a porcelain empire. In 1936, the Deshoulières de Chauvigny bought the brand from Albert Pillivuyt. The APILCO Deshoulières union will allow products to be exported abroad and the factory's entry into the restaurant business.
