Vintage Restored Wright & McGill “Champion” 8ft for 7wt. (Model 3A-8) Fly Rod

Originally made in Denver, Colorado, this Wright & McGill “Champion”  2 piece fly rod has been lovingly restored to its former glory with some artistic license. The original up-locking nickel silver reel seat is in perfect working order and still bears the “MADE BY WRIGHT & MCGILL ROD CO DENVER, COLORADO USA” engraving with minimal tarnish. The original cork handle has been cleaned and turned to a classic cigar shape. Some liberties were taken when replacing the guides on this rod, but they remain true to period style. A traditional chrome Hopkins & Holloway stripping guide with an Alumina Oxide insert will aid in letting a modern fly line race through Hopkins & Holloway chrome snake guides that complete the rest of the rod. The nickel silver ferrules are in incredible condition, just like the reel seat, and go together smoothly. The original rod sock had seen better days and was replaced with a handmade chocolate colored corduroy finished with crimson thread to match the thread work on the rod. Put this classic rod away and store it in its custom matte black aluminum rod tube finished with a brass threaded cap (some cosmetic scuffs and wear on the rod tube).

This rod is in immaculate condition and has been expertly restored. It would make the perfect rod for someone looking to chase steelhead and salmon species with something a bit more traditional. Glass is back y’all! Get you some.
