Cod Liver Oil's origins are rather self-explanatory, but it has surprisingly been used for centuries for its benefits. Scandinavian Vikings produced Cod Liver Oil by laying birch tree branches over a kettle of water, and fresh livers were laid over the branches. The water was brought to a boil and as the steam rose, the oil from the liver dripped into the water and was skimmed off. In the Industrial Revolution, Cod Liver Oil was often used for industrial purposes, and in the 1800s it became popular as a natural aid. The methods used in modern times include the Cold Flotation Process, pressure extraction, and pressure cooking. These all require further purification steps to get pure oil.
The use of Cod Liver Oil over the years is because it contains the Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, as well as Vitamins A and D. Fatty acids are necessary for the body’s normal function, as they are part of the ‘good’ fat that the body needs. EPA and DHA have been shown to support the normal function of the heart. Vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal skin and vision, as well as supporting the function of the immune system. Vitamin D also supports the normal functioning of the body, as it contributes to normal blood calcium levels, supports the normal function of the immune system, and plays a role in the maintenance of normal bones, teeth, and muscle function.

We send our products using a Royal Mail 1st Class service. We dispatch orders on weekdays up to 5 pm. Royal mail quote delivery times 1-2 days.
