Georges Leleu

A large French art deco chandelier by the famous Paris based lighting manufacturer Georges Leleu. Made around 1931- 1935. Leleu founded the company by the turn of the century. It closed down in the late 30s. Nowadays Leleu lamps are sought after items. The nice mount is done in solid nickel-plated bronze or brass. It holds nice skyscraper shades in clear frosted glass blown in a mold. 1931 Onwards these shades that exist in numerous sizes and shapes were used frequently by Leleu for chandeliers flush mounts and even table lamps. In the 1935 Leleu product poster as item X-2232 a chandelier is offered with the same central bowl. And the 1931 poster shows some semi-flush mounts. The posters are no part of this sale.

The chandelier has a height of 96 cm (37,8 inches) and it is 66,5 cm wide (measured diagonally) that's 26,2 inches. The chandelier is in excellent condition. I re-nickeled and patinated the mounting. And it is rewired with one American standard socket and four candelabra base ones. For European countries I will place E27 and E14 sockets.
