This silver colored treasure box has 13 Arras coins.  The use of wedding unity coins (Arras de Boda) originated in Spain and is a popular wedding tradition in the Hispanic culture. The coins are used during a wedding ceremony where the groom places the coins into his bride's hands as a symbol and promise to provide for the family. In return the bride receives the coins as a confirmation and promise to take care of the family. The thirteen wedding unity coins symbolize Jesus and the twelve apostles.

The thirteen wedding unity coins symbolize Jesus and the twelve apostles. In Filipino and other Spanish American bridal entourages typically include an "arrhae-bearer" or "coin-bearer," a young page who functions similarly to the ring bearer. Unlike the ring bearer, he carries the actual coins  on a pillow.

This optional Hispanic tradition in Spanish was approved by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in 2010. In September 2016, an English language version was approved and placed in the English Order of Celebrating Matrimony along with the Wedding cord.
