LT1083cp characteristic description (emphasis): It is a linear step-down block. Although the voltage adjustment can be adjusted from 2.5V to 37V, it is recommended that the working differential pressure be within 10V, because the power consumption is proportional to the pressure difference. The larger the output current, the smaller the output current. If the voltage difference is too large, the LT1083CP and some components will be very hot or even burn the components, and the current output will be very small.

As an analogy, if the output voltage is required to be 24V, the DC voltage before the voltage stabilization is ideally 26V, which is converted into an AC formula (26Vdc / 1.4 times = 18Vac), so it is ideal to find a transformer with only 18V output.
