These Aloe Maculata whole plant cuttings (stem, no roots) are HUGE (18-24" across and 12+ in tall), mature, and flowering age and will arrive as a stem with a whole head of leaves. Upon the plant's arrival, leave the plant out in a cool, dry area a couple days for the cut stem to "cure" or "callous" to prevent rot and then to plant, just plant the stem into the ground or a pot full of soil and keep moderately moist and the plant will maintain its form until roots start growing in a couple weeks (Aloe plants store water in their leaves and stems). Flowering can occur after plant is well-established and with proper care they can flower all growing season long, attracting hummingbirds and beneficial bees. Soap Aloe are hardy to Zone 8b and up (15-20 degrees) and can grow in any kind of soil or drainage (except indoors, where less water and more drainage is needed) and grow and clump quickly in response to consistent water and nutrients, though neither is required for them to survive. They are equally happy in sun and shade, and actually acquire some height in shade and crowding situations where they can develop a trunk of up to 1 foot high over time.
