A spectacular antique Victorian 18K and 15K pearl celestial floral pendant collar necklace in original fitted box.
This incredible and exquisitely made Victorian collar pendant necklace is an absolute celestial floral delight! The necklace has a beautiful natural pearl decorated heavy solid 18K yellow gold chain with lovely dropping graduating floral decorations interspersed with graduating sun and earth drops, all falling from prong set pearl studded shield shape moving links leading to a wonderful fancy linked chain full of bezel set pearls with pearl decorated push in clasp. The glorious attachable solid 15K yellow gold pendant has the most stunning celestial look, every part decorated with fantastic glowing white graduating natural pearls, with a large central star and a smaller raised star on the top giving the pendant superb depth with five fantastic half crescent moons between the star points centered with floating planets and all dropping from a diamond shape pearl studded bail-simply amazing! The reverse of the pendant has a long loop which holds the bail-the bail can be removed if desired to shorten the drop of the pendant or for when it is worn as a brooch-the back also has an attached pin and C clasp. The necklace and pendant are both unmarked, the necklace tests for 18K* gold and the pendant for 15K* gold. The necklace is fabulously displayed in its original fitted blue velvet and white silk box from the Victorian period jewelers Wheatley of Carlisle, England.
The necklace measures approximately 15 1/2 inches in total length. Without the bail the pendant measures approximately 1 1/8 x 1 1/8 inches, with bail it is about 1 1/2 inches high. The pendant drops about 2 1/8 inches from the chain. The largest floral drops are about 1/2 inch long. The pearls measure approximately 3mm graduating down to 1mm. The necklace has a total weight of approximately 31.0 grams with the necklace weighing about 24.5 grams and the pendant about 6.5 grams.
The necklace and pendant are both in excellent condition with light general wear. All the seed pearls are present with excellent nacre and a nice glow. The push in clasp and hinge work well. The box has some wear to the outside, the inside is in very good condition with light wear, the clasp and hinges are strong and it closes with a tight snap.
*eBay may send this item to the Gem Institute of America (GIA) for certification. Please note, most of our beautiful jewelry is vintage and antique and was therefore made by jewelers in periods where the technology wasn't available to consistently produce gold content to the exact karat these pieces are marked as. We work hard to test our items for gold content correctly, however the age of our pieces means gold content can occasionally be slightly lower to slightly higher than the stamped mark/advertised karat content.
