Photograph Notes: The Elsecar Heritage Railway was built in the 1850s to serve the Earl Fitzwilliams collieries and ironworks. It is currently South Yorkshires only heritage railway. Run entirely by a team of volunteers, it operates on a one-mile section of track called the Coalfield Memorial Line. Passengers are pulled by a selection of steam and diesel engines, with a variety of coaching stock. The main operating day is Sunday.
