Watch is being sold as is for restoration. It is missing hands, and crystal, one lug has been ground smooth most likely customized to be worn as a fob during the war. Watch is not running.

Within weeks of the outbreak of World War I, the American Red Cross dispatched a ship to Europe loaded with medical personnel and supplies. Named the SS Red Cross, it was better known as “The Mercy Ship.” It carried 170 surgeons and nurses who were being sent to Europe to provide medical relief to combat casualties on both sides of the war.

This watch would make an awesome restoration or museum grade collector item - please do your research associated with this extremely rare and fine military medical timepiece. (Please see photos !! ) I could not even find another comparable with the Red Cross medic dial !!
