An original WW1 Australian battalion unit history titled "Randwick to Hargicourt: History of the 3rd Battalion, A.I.F." It was published by Ronald G. McDonald: Sydney, 1935 and written by Eric Wren.

This is a 1st edition, blue cloth hardcover, special presentation copy presented to Mrs Hallam by the Executive of 3rd Bn. A.I.F. Assoc. on 24/5/1935 which was Anzac Day in recognition for the loss of her son No.935 L/Cpl. Arthur Hallam. Hallam enlisted on 27/8/14 and was Killed-in-Action at Gallipoli on 25/4/1915, i.e. the first day of the Gallipoli landing. The book was signed by members of the Committee including the Secretary Lieut. 282 Ernest Norman Litchfield; Pte. 346 Sydney Angove McCulloch, and another unidentifiable signature.

It is interesting that the Committee members were similar to unit history author Eric Wren (3rd Bn) who lost an arm at Gallipoli. The Committee were all original 3rd Bn battalion members who landed at Gallipoli and returned home medically unfit. Litchfield was wounded twice at Gallipoli. First in May 1915, he received a gunshot wound to the right templar region and later, was shot in the right arm which required amputation. McCullock was discharge after getting pneumonia and as a result suffered ongoing shortness of breath and tachycardia. Not sure about the service history of the 3rd unidentifiable signature.

This is a very rare book particularly with the signature of two and perhaps three original battalion members who landed at Gallipoli plus a direct family connection to an original Battalion member who was Killed-in-Action on the day of the landing at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915.
This battalion history is in good condition and is rare and very hard to find.
