Original Ford compressor brace and support for 289 engines in Galaxie 1965 1966 with Air Conditioning in LTD, XL 500 Custom convertible models. Mercury models that may have had the 289 in them.
This brace mounts from pump top back to the smaller support bracket which bolts onto the rear of the LH cylinder head. I believe that I have two of the mounting bolts, but lack the third. Nothing special about it in this case.
The long tubular brace should be Ford # C5MY-2889-A, aprox 24.5" long.
The cast iron support is Ford part # B9ME-22093-A In this case, the casting number is a C5AA-2A903-A. This leads me to believe that this support was used since 1959 in some manner or another on Mercury and/or models. If the small block Ford came out in 1962 or 1963 (240 260 v8's) then this must fit the earlier MEL engines too!?
