Ever wonder why 2008-2021 STI’s never came with transmission dipsticks from the factory? 04-07 STI models did in fact come with transmission dipsticks, but after 2007, Subaru no longer provided it with the 2008+ STI models. Having no way to check your transmission fluid other than removing the fill/leveling plug on the side of the transmission has been problematic. The good news is, we’ve come up with a solution.

2008-2021 STI transmissions came with a threaded hex fill plug that is located in the exact same location where the factory dipstick tube is found on the 04-07 STI models. Our kit utilizes that threaded fill hole and is replaced with our conversion fitting. The SAP dipstick is then installed showing a 100% accuracy reading on the transmission oil level. This dipstick conversion is an absolute MUST on all 2008-2021 STI models, whether you are bone stock or heavily modified. Having low transmission fluid can cause premature wear on your transmission components, which can lead to transmission failure that can cost you thousands.

Kit Includes:

• Copper Washer
• Aircraft-grade billet aluminum conversion fitting
• 100% accurate Aircraft grade billet aluminum / stainless steel dipstick
• Ultra tight silicone o rings

Installation instructions:

1. Front mount intercooler owners, skip to #3.
2. Remove top mount intercooler.
3. Remove 10mm threaded Hex plug (apply penetrating oil if the plug is rusty).
4. Install 27mm conversion fitting with new supplied copper washer.
5. Torque conversion fitting to 46.00 FT. LBS.
6. Install supplied dipstick (lubricate o rings with gear oil for smoother feel if it is too tight for your liking)
7. Check fluid level (Special note: your fluid level might be showing high on the dipstick due to the fact that the technician that did your previous transmission service slightly overfilled/did not correctly level out the transmission fluid before installing the fill plug back on. Do not be alarmed if it is slightly overfilled, it can be corrected on the next transmission gear oil service).
8. Re-install top mount intercooler.
9. Enjoy your new SAP transmission dipstick conversion.
