Listed is a premium 1210mm flexible magnesium anode. Be aware of cheaper products, these have been known to create a 'fizz effect' in your hot water system and potentially damage your hot water system and houses plumbing. It is a 96% magnesium alloy so much cleaner and better for your health than aluminium anodes Replacing the sacrificial anode every 3-5 years dramatically increases the life of your hot water system. Generally the warranty on a tank is 5 years, the manufacturers ship with an anode in there knowing it will protect the tank for this duration. Anodes serve a very real purpose which is why all tanks (barring stainless steel) have them It is suitable for all tanks from a 30 litre caravan hot water system (just cut to size with a hacksaw using the old anode as a guide for length) all the way up to a 250 litre tank. Note some larger tanks require two anodes It is easy to replace 1. Isolate the water at mains or using isolating valve by the hot water tank 2. Undo the top of the system (it differs from system to system but is very straight forward 3. Use a 27mm socket (or 1 1/16in) to undo the existing anode 4. Insert the new anode and tighten it up 5. Turn the water back on 6.
