Delicious steamed, boiled, grilled & can be frozen & canned.

A perfect variety for UK cooler weather & wetter soils.

Matures in 90 to 100 days

Height 5 to 6 feet tall & 18 inch spread.

Sow sweetcorn seeds from April to May in free draining compost at 3/4 inches deep.

Place in a propagator or in a sealed polythene bag with temperatures of 18 to 24C for best
germination in 7 to 10 days.

After germination, grow seedlings on in cooler conditions for 10 to 14 days.

When all risk of frost has passed, transplant into fertile, well drained soil in full sun, sheltered from winds.

If sowing direct, do so once the soil as warmed with no risk of frost.

To encourage pollination of the silks, female flowers, tapping the tassels or male flowers
helps pollen to fall as poor pollination leads to missing kernels in the cob rows.

Water sweetcorn plants regularly until established and particularly during dry periods.

Provide mulch matter around base to help conserve moisture & reduce weed growth.

Harvest when the silky tassels at the end of the cob have turned brown.

Peel back the sheath of the cob slightly & press the corn kernels with a fingernail until liquid squeezes out.
If the liquid is milky coloured, then the cob is ripe, if clear, it is under ripe.
