Photograph Notes: Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside....... Sea defence improvements have been mandated by severe undermining and erosion in the aftermath of the storms of Easter 2010. The work taking place in this image is the first phase of the council's new coastal defence strategy, and involves the construction of a 200m rock groyne to the east of the pier which will contain future sand 'nourishment'. Work has been suspended for the high tide period, and gulls are enjoying the new reefs which have appeared. Rocks which are being placed on the beach are coming from as far afield as Flintshire and Minffordd [[1312049]].
