Northern European , 3 ½” length. with Evolutionary form from the mid crusades period. Finely forged. Elongated leaf shaped point with medial ridge which carries through the socket which is intricately shaped to faceted/octagonal section. The ridge interrupted with a short flat ahead of the junction with the socket. Made specifically to pierce mail armor before the use of plate armor, while sacrificing the devastating damage of barbs. See Historical Guide to Arms and Armor, Bull and North, P.70 bottom. Fine condition for the period with stable surface oxidation and small chips to the socket edge only. Near crisp and museum quality.
