Vintage Baby's Handmade Christening Gown Dress boy girl 6-12 approx And Bonnet.

Absolutely beautiful pure white Satin lined Cotton Christening Gown and bonnet, hand made and crafted by hours of intricate embroidery. Each loop button hole and each loop in the edging is created by tiny stitches to form an even and delicate pattern around the yoke, wrists and bonnet; yes; each stitch around the yoke and the intricate detailing of the tiny stitches on the bonnet and upon the ears and decoration over the bonnet are all hand stitched! I know, as I proudly made it over 30 years ago; not only is the embroidery hand sewn but also some of the seams and the satin lining was attached to the gown as such too and where only needed machine stitchery and overlocking was used too. The decorative pin tucks are machine stitched.

This unique ‘one off’ bespoke gown reflects a historical heirloom gowns of the past, and created and adapted from an historical pattern and to be kept in the succession of generation babies, and this was created with that in mind. It is such a beautiful period looking two piece, reflecting Elizabethan, civil war or successive periods and eras too; it has the opulent classic style and look for the present day baby and for generations to come.

When it was made it was made so that a baby Girl or boy was able to wear it with ease as it is a very comfortable robe and it is in the style of the Royal family preference by draping below. The gown can be worn with the full yoke at the front, or as a Peter Pan Collar with a button frontage for your preference to your wishes or the child’s sex.

Tiny pearlised smooth buttons are placed at the wrists and down the body again with handmade loops (each loop took approx 40 minutes each and over the gown and bonnet there are well over a hundred) including the wrists and yoke, there are literally hours of love have been sewn into this unique garment and bonnet which has also ahand sewn satin ribbon to be tied under your babies chin and a cotton tie for the waist.

The gown is A line in shape with a full pleat down it on a gathered waistline and is made to hang far below the child’s feet. The sleeves are slightly puffed and in the case of a 4 month old made to push up to the elbow.

The Bonnet design has a wonderful story to it! It was created with Christian symbolism with a hand embroidered cross in the middle and a circle around it representing eternity and protection.
