Photograph Notes: Peas Hill, Cambridge. Founded by world economist John Maynard Keynes and home to many famous productions which subsequently transferred to the West End stage. Here, we see advertised the ‘Footlights Revue’. This show - which originated at the University - spawned a host of British comedy classics from ‘Beyond the Fringe’ through ‘TW3’ to ‘Monty Python’ and beyond, becoming the springboard for those comedians who succeeded the wartime generation of 'ITMA', ‘Much Binding …’, ‘The Goons’ and ‘Round the Horn’.
