California redwood became a coveted point of rich color in a mid century interior. The "Redwood Highway" in the fifties featured several gift shops that offered redwood wares made from now protected original California redwoods. Fallen trees, trees struck by lightning or succumbed in other ways, were often used to produce these many and varied goods.  
Now, a half century later, the original artifacts of this period take on a special meaning.  
The original redwoods are the largest, oldest living things on the Earth. 
Having an original California Redwood piece in your interior is like having a piece of the early Earth! It's an incredible artifact!   This catchall is glorious! The red and blonde hues create
a wonderful checkerboard of texture and catch the eye.
