Preface Over the 26 years since their initial introduction, laser technology has provided the surgeon with an effective form of treatment for a large variety of disorders of both skin and internal organs. Today , the laser has become and almost universally accepted instrument for most medical and surgical specialties. While some specialties such as ophthalmology, dermatology and otolaryngology currently rely heavily on various laser systems int he daily practice of medicine, the potential of the laser has not been fully recognized by all specialties. It is certain, however, that with additional improvements as well as the development of new instruments, the role of medical laser will certainly expand tremendously in the near future.
