Buck & Company, Lebanon, New Hampshire, This working model is designed to be used to display the functionality of the device on a hardware store countertop .this is a pre patient, patient applied for item, eventually it was patented on May 21, 1872 by Ira Buckman of Williamsburg, New York. so this pre dates 1872. , the back of the item slides up and down, there is nothing to latch it any longer, not sure what is missing if anything, but it appears that there should be something else. i love the stenciled text on the front, "Manufactured and Sold, by M & J.H. Buck & Co. Lefanon N.H. Who also Manufacture all Kinds of Machinery for Working Wood, Such as Planing, Tenoning and Mortising Machines & e.
