PROVENANCE: Produced for the 1607 edition of William Camden’s “Britannia”.  William Camden (2 May 1551 – 9 November 1623) was an English antiquarian, historian, topographer, and herald, best known as author of Britannia, the first chorographical survey of the islands of Great Britain and Ireland, and the Annales, the first detailed historical account of the reign of Elizabeth I of England.  The 1607 latin edition of Britannia included for the first time a full set of English county maps, based on the surveys of Christopher Saxton and John Norden, and engraved by William Kip and William Hole (who also engraved the fine frontispiece).  The maps would be reprinted in the English editions of the Britannia, 1610 and 1637.

VERSO: There is nothing printed on the reverse side, which is blank. 

CONDITION: Good; suitable for framing. Please check the scan for any blemishes prior to making your purchase. Virtually all antiquarian maps and prints are subject to some normal aging due to use and time which is not significant unless otherwise stated. I offer a no questions asked return policy.  One pinhole in the bottom margin not impacting the image.
