Photograph Notes: The model village which occupied the parade ground area of the redoubt for a period between the end of WW2 and the 1970s. Part of the redoubt's circular perimeter can be seen beyond the trees. By 1977 the redoubt was home to a military museum, a use more relevant to its military origins. The redoubt was constructed as part of the defensive strategy during the period of the Napoleonic wars in the early years of the 19th century and was a barracks and supply depot for the nearby Martello towers. It is a scheduled ancient monument. Best estimate for the date of photograph is between 1966 and 1969.
