This is a wonderful antique continental gilt silver figural spoon. The spoon is brightly gilded with an oval bowl and a rat tail rib on the back. The shaft has a cherub near the bowl, a winged figure on the center node and a figure at top holding a shaft in one hand and an open book or pair of tablets in the other hand.  The spoon measures 7 3/4 inches long. The hallmarks on the back of the bowl are a crowned shield with a double headed eagle; the letter “M” with a dot on each side was well as below and above; and an unidentified mark. The spoon is of unknown origin. Fine condition.
