The King of the Garden Lima Bean Seeds is an Heirloom Pole Lima Bean that was introduced in 1883. 
 
Producing a Superior Quality Lima compared to the bush type lima.  The King of the Garden Lima Bean is a Very Vigorous and Prolific Pole lima with vines that grow as tall as 10 feet and produce record yields of 8 inch pods  by 1-1/4 inches wide. 
 
The pods are filled with 5 to 6 Large, white, flat lima beans.   This Lima will continue to grow and produce up until frost if kept picked. 
 
Excellent variety for freezing.

How to plant: Propagate by seed
Germination temperature: 65 to 80 F - bean pods will not set if the weather is too hot. Days to emergence: 7-18 
Seed can be saved for 5-10 years if stored properly

Sow seeds directly into your garden soil around 1-1/2  to 2 inches deep. Three to six inches apart, in rows two to three feet apart. 

Further Tips

Lima beans can be harvested early, as baby limas, or as fully mature dry beans

  • Like other beans, it is easy to directly sow lima beans outside after the danger of frost has passed.
