Elegant and classic antique porcelain figurine of a young woman holding a bird atop a cage, carried beneath her arm. Around her feet are delicate flowers, and her design is wholly rococo or Art Nouveau; but notice the angular face betraying the sharpness of the emerging Art Deco fashion.

Hallmarked to Sitzendorf porcelain. Sitzendorfer Porzellanmanufaktur was established by Wilhelm Liebmann in 1850. Most of the manufactory was demolished in 1858 in a blast, but reopened later and continued to run until the second world war. Dated to approximately 1920, the “foreign” mark on the base was used exclusively post-WWI when importers sought to avoid German-made wares.

13.7 cm in height

Excellent antique condition, minor losses to some leaves, please carefully regard all photos. Please note that the bird is in excellent condition; usually such fragile elements are the first to break with age. The paint is also wonderfully preserved.
