Photograph Notes: Anserdam is a corruption of Hansard's Dam. Gilbert Hansard II dug a channel through the marshland bordering the Ouse in 1191 from Blacktoft to north of Gilberdyke and began the reclamation of the land in these parts. Once an important communication route Anserdam is now a barely noticeable drain.
