Reading and Writing Book 2 by Ellen Wales Walpole. Pictures by Einar Nerman, the famous Swedish illustrator.
The 72-page workbook is illustrated in simple red, white and black drawings that should appeal to children. Notes for helping children to use this book independently are printed on the inside of the back cover.  The alphabet is reviewed and 36 words are taught as wholes.  "Poems, simple stories and episodes comprise the reading."  It was published in 1947, so some of the diction is dated. For instance, one of the sentences reads:  "Bill has done up Tom's shoe. " But it could still be helpful for beginning readers. Reviews follow every fourth lesson.

There is ink on the front cover where a name was crossed out, and a little rip along the bottom edge of the back cover. All of the pages are clean and intact.

Ships in a sturdy package to prevent damage.
