First edition, this copy inscribed, signed & dated in ink by the author, who adds a small sketch of a mouse, at the first blank page. Octavo (8.75" x 6"), 430 pages. Publisher's light blue cloth lettered in plum on the spine, in pictorial dust jacket. Gunn/ Gay American Novels, 1870–1970: p. 104. 

Condition: Upper margin & spine extremities sunned, edges lightly rubbed, text slightly toned & occasionally foxed, about Very Good in moderately rubbed dust jacket with short tears & small losses mostly at the top & bottom of the spine, Good or better. Please see photos.


Partially autobiographical, the novel centers around young Jeff Ramsey & his "unsentimental education" in "the gay, tawdry, amoral, sometimes brutal world of a seedy summer stock company." Author Burwell was himself an actor & director as well as the founder of The Belfast Maskers in Belfast, Maine.

Our default shipping is by USPS Media Mail for most of our items or by USPS Retail Ground for non-book offerings. We are happy, and would prefer, to ship by USPS Priority and include that option in the Ebay Shipping calculator.
We are happy to ship internationally but at this time, due to irregularities within the USPS, we will only do so via eBay's Global Shipping program.
