My used VHS tapes show general wear.  Condition may include varying degrees of: cover/case marks, dings, tears/damage, scratches/indents, creases/bends, corner/edge/tab wear, other blemishes.  May have stickers/sticker residue/tape/grime/stains.  The same applies to any outer packaging if it is a box set/multi tape package.  If a plastic/clam shell case, case may show marks, scratches, cracks, dirt/grime, discoloration, other blemishes.  Plastic sleeve may show marks, scratches, residue, stickers, tears, other blemishes.  The exterior of the tape may show general wear, marks, stickers/sticker residue/tape, other blemishes.  The product sticker on the tape may show wear, corner/edge curling/damage, fading, peeling/lifting/bubbling, other imperfections.  If the product info is printed on the tape, the printing may show wear, fading, chips.

Sections of the tapes have been tested.  While the areas of tape that I tested looked and sounded good, please expect playback quality to be representative of a used, vintage VHS tape (may not be flawless playback).  Not being the original owner, I do not know if these are former rental copies or not.
