Photograph Notes: A derelict signal tower built in 1815 during the Napoleonic wars. The two storey tower was used up until the 1920s as a signal station. It was briefly reoccupied by coast watchers during the 'emergency' (World War II). The diagonal strip marks the former position of the stairs to the upper storey.
