Introduced in 2005, the Crest's design evolved directly from Stan's earliest ideas, including the legendary 355 rims. Stan wanted a simple and durable rim that would work well without a tube and weighed less than everybody else's rims. The Crest achieved those goals. With a more durable and lighter 6069 alloy and an asymmetric rim shape that balances spoke tension, today's Crest MK4 has technology that's lightyears ahead of the early design, but the spirit of the original Crest lives on: make it light, make it serviceable, make it resist flats, and make it go as fast as possible.
The BST Asymmetric rim design of the Crest MK4 allows for a stronger wheel while offering the easy inflation and Stan’s trademark unmatched airtight seal. The centerpiece of the Straightpull rear wheel hub is the freewheel system with a tooth washer freehub.
All hubs are developed and produced in Germany.
Tubeless ready Wheels are designed to be tubeless ready with the use of our tubeless rim tape. The rims have been carefully engineered to feature a profile that minimizes the forces applied on the rim sidewall. This optimized rim bed yields fast tire installation, and a great tire fit, allowing for quick and trouble-free tubeless setup.
Straight pull spokes
Wheels use high precision straight pull spokes for the perfect strength to weight ratio. Stronger than conventional spokes, they are still true- and replaceable with standard tools.
Secure Lock nipples
Sapim's anodized Polyax nipples are treated with a special coating to increase durability and allow for easier wheel building. The nipples have a 2 mm thread for rims with Ø 3.5 mm holes. Aluminium saves weight, compared to other materials like brass.
Sapim's patented Secure Lock technology is a locking mechanism that prevents nipples from untightening. The advantages of this easy locking system are the possibility to use them on a truing machine and that there is no loose function while truing the wheel. Highly precise and accurate machines have specifically been developed to produce this type of locking system. They ensure stable and well defined deformation on the thread and increase the nipple's torsion about 18 cNm (+/- 3 cNm).
Lacing pattern
SPLINE® hubs are optimized for their respective lacing pattern. This ensures that the spokes align with mathematical precision so that material use is minimized for the best strength to weight ratio.
The maximum recommended system weight is 90 kg.

All custom wheel builds begin with a customer interview to help us understand the rider, how his or her wheels will be used, riding conditions ,budget range and technical requirements. We use this information to help select the most appropriate component specifications for each rider.
Wheels are shipped in a custom wheel box, insuring that they will arrive to you safe-and-sound. This builder allows you to build a complete wheel set, or a single front/rear wheel if desired.
