Pick from our huge range of
species and accessories
Also known as Bromeliads, Airplants or Tillys
Easy care, no soil required species of house plant
Care sheet is also included
Individual Airplant species - Our airplants are sold as
individual specimens. The plants will soon establish and grow into fantastic plants, given the correct care, attention and
time. To achieve maximum redness in red species tillandsia, the plants
need to be grown in high humidity. Care sheet is included.
Airplant Collections: Our airplant collections contain
a variety of species selected at random from our current stock. All
species in our collection packs are labelled and we avoid duplication of
species where possible. Our 25 and 50 packs will have some duplicates. We
aim to include a selection of plants to provide variety of shapes, colours and
sizes once established, thus providing a complete collection in one pack.
Airplant Species Packs: these are packs of 2 or more of the
same species (such as Ionantha Rubra twin pack) or are a collection of species
from the same genus - such as our Ionantha 3 species pack which contains
Ionantha Rubra, Ionantha Scaposa and Ionantha var. Ionantha
Accessories - we stock a huge range of accessories for
our airplants - including fixative, fertiliser, reindeer moss, spray bottles,
wood for mounting, shells and glassware for decoration
We stock many different species, from common species to those extremely
rare and unusual hard to source species - below are some of our most popular
species:
Tillandsia
Brachycaulous Multiflora - Brachycaulos Multiflora is a medium to large plant, up to 20cm
high, but greatly variable in size. The foliage is numerous, as it grows it
opens up with leaves bending slightly. The leaves are green, colouring
intensively red in strong sun at bloom time. The petals are blue. It likes
bright, sunny position with moderate damp. (wood not included)
Tillandsia
Albertiana - Albertiana
is native to Argentina, named after the Argentine botanist Alberto Castellanos
by an admiring student who found the species
One of
the very few tillansias to have a red flower, normally has large flowers which
last longer than many other tillandsia.
Leaves
are distichous (forming in mirror like pairs) making this an unusual species
for any collection
Tillandsia
Flabelleta Rubra - This variety has a similar texture to T. Brachycaulos. It has a unique
shape, and wispy form. It is not as common as other varieties, and not so well
known. Another unique thing about T. Flabellata Rubra is its spike branches out
at the base. This gives you the impression it has multiple spikes!
The flabelleta can grow to 6 inches in height and 4 inches in upper
spread diameter. The wispy leaves will project from the base in the form of a
spike and then will create a wide-open rosette as shown in the photo.
Beautiful red spikes
Tillandsia
Bulbosa - Greatly variable in size. An average adult plant is about 15cm
across and 12 cm high. In bloom, specimens sometimes grow twice that
size. Petals are purple blue, lineal forming a tube 3 - 4 cm long from
which the stamens protrude. It will grow well in a terrarium. It likes
moderate humid and bright conditions. It can be positioned horizontally
or upside down to help prevent possible rot.
Tillandsia
Caput Medusae - The
Tillandsia Caput Medusae is a unique plant in the Tillandsia species. The shape
and form of this species is certainly rare and so the plant is named after
this. The leaves of species grow wild and non-uniform, and thus resemble the
hair of Greek God Medusa, hence the name of the species.
Tillandsia
Ionantha Fuego - The
Ionantha Fuego is a stunning species in the airplant world, with red leaves and
violet flowers once established.
Much more
striking than the Ionantha Rubra which has red tips, the Ionantha Fuego plant
benefits from sunny bright conditions, which turn the whole plant blood red
creating a unique addition and feature in your collection
Tillandsia
Ionantha Rubra -Ionantha
Rubra is a small form variety of the Ionantha species, with leaves in a dense
rosette. The leaves will turn pink at the top and average plant is 8 to
10cm once mature. The petals of the flowers are violet. Likes
bright sunny positions
Tillandsia Punctulata
- This is
an incredible species from Mexico and central America. It is slightly
stoloniferous like T. tricolor, and like cyanea it is a more mesic/wet growing
species making it ideal for lower light conditions or terrarium's. It is
a very large growing plant with a lovely shape and nice dark green leaves with
really dark bases. The flower spike is equally impressive with fiery red stem
and bracts which produce purple and white flowers over a very long
period. It pups really well and is very easy to grow. A superb plant
Tillandsia
Fasciculata -This species is very variable in size and varies greatly in habitat. The
leaves are stiff, brittle and easily broken if bent. It will grow 20 -100 cm
high. Because it often grows into a large specimen, it can serve as a
centrepiece in one's collection. It produces a long lasting colourful
inflorescence
Tillandsia
Tricolor Melanocrater
The Tillandsia Melanocrater has amazing tricolored leaves once established –
the name refers to the 3 colours cherry, canary and indigo along with green
bases. Flower petals are indigo. Leaves are linear, long and
relatively stiff. Likes bright light and humidity to achieve maximum
colour range. Grows to approx. 30cm diameter and 25 cm in height
